Northern Alberta Sailing College uses Mistral 404, 420's and Optimist sailboats, chosen because they are stable, easy to maneuver and contain only simple, essential controls.

The N.A.S.C. sailboats have a standard sloop rig and skills developed in these boats can easily be applied to other types of sailing craft.

The stable 8 foot long Optimist will be the boat used to teach those under 125 pounds starting to sail and race.
